Özil’s recent form has put the German under heavy criticism from both the media and Gunner fans who have been disappointed with the £42 million summer signing’s performance. Özil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in September and has made 22 league appearances for the Gunners, with four goals and eight assist.
The injury leaves Arsenal without both Özil and Jack Wilshere for a tough stretch of games that includes a North London Derby against Tottenham and matches against league-leaders Chelsea and title contenders Manchester City. Arsene Wenger could get winter singing Kim Kallstrom in the mix as the Swedish midfielder has resumed training with the team.
Kallstrom has yet to play since joining the Gunners in January due to a back injury.
