MLS scores: Goonies never die

The San Jose Earthquakes are really good at doing things in stoppage time.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Goonies got it done in the 95th minute this Saturday, coming off a mid-week draw against Cruz Azul where they equalized in similar fashion. The San Jose Earthquakes are fun. Also, Jermain Defoe is very good at scoring.

Union 1-0 Revolution

Jose Goncalves sat out for the New England Revolution, reportedly due to a contract dispute, and his team continued to miss him. Sebastian Le Toux scored the game's only goal from close range, finishing off a cross from Leo Fernandez in the 31st minute.

Red Bulls 1-1 Rapids

This was certainly a better showing than last week's beatdown for the New York Red Bulls, but they'll be very disappointed they dropped points. Thierry Henry scored the opener off a cross by Lloyd Sam, but the Rapids were able to nick a draw off a controversial penalty. Marvin Chavez went down easily under the challenge of Jamison Olave to win it, and Vicente Sanchez finished from the spot.

Sounders 1-2 Toronto FC

Jermain Defoe scored both goals for Toronto FC on an impressive debut. The finishes were similar, but the two chances were created under very different circumstances. Jonathan Osorio set up the first with a brilliant assist, but the second was gifted to Defoe when Marco Pappa made a horrible backpass right into his path. Clint Dempsey struck back late for the Seattle Sounders, but they never found a second goal. Also, the referee missed Dempsey hitting Mark Bloom in the groin, so don't be shocked if he's retroactively punished.

Dynamo 1-0 Impact

Will Bruin scored again, though this goal wasn't quite as pretty and clinical as the two he scored last week. He got a lot of help from a deflection, via Montreal Impact defender Eric Miller. Still, it's another goal for Bruin and another Houston Dynamo win.

Sporting KC 1-1 FC Dallas

Central defender Aurelien Collin continues to be Sporting Kansas City's best attacker. He scored off a corner to put his team up in this one, but FC Dallas equalized in the 90th minute, with Matt Hedges redirecting a Michel free kick to earn a road point for his team. Side note: The pitch at Sporting Park was god awful.

Earthquakes 3-3 RSL

Real Salt Lake appeared to have a second straight road win over a Western Conference rival in the bag late in this game, but the San Jose Earthquakes fought back, scoring in the 75th minute, then again in stoppage time to snatch a draw. Chris Wondolowski struck first, scoring in the 6th minute, but Kyle Beckerman leveled just five minutes later with a goal of the week candidate on a blast from 25 yards. RSL scored the next two goals, with Joao Plata and Luke Mulholland putting their team up 3-1 by halftime.

The Goonies looked very dead, but you know the drill by now. Victor Bernardez made things interesting with his 75th minute goal off a corner, then did the same thing with the last touch of the ball, completing a brace in the 95th minute.
