Chelsea vs. Galatasaray: Preview and TV schedule

Chelsea fans will welcome back beloved striker Didier Drogba on Tuesday and them promptly hope their Blues knock him and his team out of the Champions League.

Michael Regan

Galatasaray and Chelsea enter their Champions League Round of 16 second leg match even at 1-1 after a draw in the first leg. The Blues hold a slight advantage with the match being at home and having an away goal in their pocket.

Jose Mourinho is probably still a bit steamed after his team’s disappointing loss over the weekend against Aston Villa, but he’s been around long enough to know you have to move on quickly. Defenders Ashley Cole and David Luiz remain doubtful, so Mourinho’s back line will likely remain unchanged from the weekend. Frank Lampard will likely return after being rested on Saturday.

Galatasaray are led by Chelsea favorite Didier Drogba who helped lead the Blues to their only Champions League title in 2012. While Gala’s form has been fantastic this season -- they’ve only lost one match in their last 23 -- their road form hasn’t been the best with only four win away from the Türk Telekom Arena during that stretch.

Gala have failed to win a match in their eight trips to England, managing only three draws with five loses.

Chelsea injuries and suspensions

Out: Marco van Ginkel (knee). In Doubt: Ashley Cole (knee), David Luiz (muscle strain).

Galatasaray injuries and suspensions

Out: Aydın Yılmaz (ankle), Emre Çolak (knee). In Doubt: Aurélien Chedjou (groin), Hakan Balta (thigh), Hami Altintop (back), Gökhan Zan(hamstring).

Chelsea defenders Ashley Cole and David Luiz have both miss the last two matches and remain doubtful for Tuesday. Galatasaray will be without Aydin Yilmaz and Emre Çolak, both of whom are dealing with long term injuries. Chedjou, Balta, Altintop and Zan are all doubtful with various injuries.

Projected lineups

Chelsea: Petr Cech, Branislav Ivanović, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Cesar Azpilicueta, Jon Obi Mikel, Frank Lampard, Willian, Ramires, Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto'o.

Galatasaray: Fernando Muslera, Emmanuel Eboué, Aurélien Chedjou, Hakan Balta, Alex Telles, Felipe Melo, Selçuk İnan, Burak Yilmaz, Yekta Kurtuluş, Wesley Sneijder, Didier Drogba.
