Like many times before this season, the title race in La Liga was shaken up in Round 29 thanks to Barcelona's win in El Clásico. Real Madrid's lead is now gone as Atlético Madrid are now in first, with Madrid behind on tiebreaker, and the Blaugrana a single point behind. If it wasn't already the best title race in years, it definitely is now.
La Liga, Round 29 review: El Clásico and other significant events
Barcelona once again shook up the title race, Athletic moved closer to securing fourth and the relegation race tightened just a little bit more. Just another week in La Liga.

Unfortunately, other key races in La Liga are not matching the tension at the top of the table. Athletic Bilbao won't mind that, of course, as they took another step towards the Champions League with a 1-0 win over Getafe. Villarreal are all but out of the race for fourth after yet another disappointing loss, this time at the hands of Valencia. The Yellow Submarine are now ten points back of Atheltic. Real Sociedad have fallen back as well, with another loss, this time against Almeria.
Rayo Vallecano kept the three-point cushion between themselves and the drop zone with a 1-1 draw against Real Valladolid. Fortunately for Valladolid, Getafe's loss allowed them to close within a point of safety. Almeria got a huge win over La Real, jumping out of the relegation zone for the time being.
Real Betis lost yet again, right on the heels of a painful Europa League exit on penalties against rivals Sevilla. Betis are now nine points adrift at the bottom of the league with only nine games left to play, five of which are away games. It's not looking good for the Beticós.
Here’s a recap of the results from round 29.
