It was only last season that Sicilian minnows Catania were being lauded for their exciting, attacking, and most importantly, successful brand of football. Now, though, the elefanti are rock bottom of the Serie A table, and cut six points adrift of safety. It's looking ever more likely that next season they'll be getting their first taste of second-tier football since 2006.
Udinese vs. Catania: Preview and TV schedule
An underwhelming Udinese host Serie A’s basement club Catania on Monday, with the Sicilians in desperate need of three points.
They've not won a game in over a month, and can't really afford to not beat Udinese in Friuli on Monday. Francesco Guidolin's side have also underperformed badly this season, but the sketchy zebrette are still up in 14th place, 11 points clear of the bottom three. They can already start to turn their attention to next season -- and wondering how they'll manage to replace their retiring captain Antonio Di Natale.
They head into this match without a single injury or suspension, though Catania will be without a string of regulars. Lucas Castro, Sergio Almirón, Nicolás Spolli and Alberto Frison are all unavailable for Rolando Maran.
Udinese injuries and suspensions
Out: None. In doubt: None.
