Germany vs. Chile: Preview and TV schedule

German forward Miroslav Klose will take a shot at history as Germany and Chile meet for the first time in an international friendly.

Thomas Niedermueller

Germany and head coach Joachim Löw should face a solid challenge from fellow World Cup bound side Chile in Stuttgart on Wednesday. The two teams have never faced one another in any competition or friendly.

German striker Miroslav Klose returns to the squad for the first time since September after missing the team's final two qualifiers and two most recent friendlies. The Lazio star, currently tied with Gerd Müller at 68 goals, will likely get a crack at finally becoming the all-time leading scorer for Germany. Bastian Schweinsteiger, Kevin Grosskreutz and Lukas Podolski are all back in the squad as well.

Löw has also welcome four uncapped players to the team as Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Andre Hahn, Matthias Gintr and Shkodran Mustafi will all attempt to make their case to become a late addition to Germany's World Cup squad.

Chile were excellent in qualifying and have only lost two of their last 15 matches. La Roja have also acquitted themselves well in recently friendlies, drawing 2-2 against the current world champions Spain and defeating England 2-0 at Wembley.

Head coach Jorge Sampaoli welcomes back regulars Alexis Sánchez and Juventus teammates Arturo Vidal and Mauricio Isla. They're joined by Gary Medel whose call-up is a bit of surprise having just returned from a thigh injury. David Pizzaro and Miko Albornoz will miss out due to injury.

Match Date/Time: 8:45 p.m. local, 2:45 p.m. ET

Venue: Mercedes-Benz Arena, Stuttgart, Germany

TV: BT Sport 2 (U.K.), ARD Das Erste (Germany)

Online: ESPN3 (U.S.), Sportsnet Online (Canada)
