The home kit that Nike and the United States unveiled last month was undoubtedly very clean with its white body, subtle gray pinstripes and polo collar. For a number of American fans, however, the shirt was too clean. Many decried it as boring, going so far as calling it a "golf shirt," which sparked a reaction from the PGA. The national team won't have the same issues with its change option after Nike officially unveiled a much more in-your-face look.

What’s more American than red, white and blue?
The shirt, starting from the bottom and moving upward, features the colors of the American flag. Red dominates the shirt, starting just below the chest and taking up all of the space down to the bottom hem. A thick strip of white separates the bottom of the shirt from the top, running the jersey’s circumference around the torso and sleeves. The top of the shirt is the royal blue that has had a prominent place on the United States Men’s and Women’s National Teams.
On the away kit, the US crest has undergone a bit a makeover. No, we’re not seeing the return of the lovely centennial crest, unfortunately. Instead, the badge has gone monochrome. The badge features blue stitching on a white background, and lines up well with the top of the shirt.
The shirt will pair with red shorts and red socks, similar to the home kit which has the Yanks wearing white from head to toe. Whether the Americans will mix and match shorts between the two kits remains to be seen, but it has been done before. During the last kit cycle, both the “Waldo” home kit and the “vest” away kit were meant to be paired with navy blue shorts, but numerous times during the last cycle we saw the kits, specifically the former, with white shorts.
The United States' away kit will come with all of the cooling technology that appears on the home kit and the rest of Nike's offerings for the World Cup. The shirt will feature Dri-FIT fabric, laser-cut ventilation holes, and engineered mesh to help keep players cool.
