Diego Costa injury: Atletico Madrid striker stretchered off after hurting leg
Atletico Madrid and Spain fans are holding their breaths after Diego Costa’s injury.

Costa suffered the injury in the 84th minute as he directed Adrīan’s cross into an empty net for Atleti’s second goal of the match. Costa’s momentum carried him right into the post, his leg hitting hard against the metal, just below the knee on his shin. Costa spent several minutes down before being stretched off with his hands covering his face.
If it's serious, Costa's injury could have a huge impact on not just the La Liga race, but the Champions League and World Cup. With Real Madrid and Barcelona on Atleti's heels, they need him to keep their lead in the league and it's tough to imagine them getting past Chelsea in the Champions League semis without him. Meanwhile, he was expected to be one of Spain's strikers at the World Cup and the defending champions would be short-handed in Brazil without him.
And beyond everything on the field, a serious injury to Costa would throw the summer transfer window in flux. The striker was expected to be one of the most sought-after players, with Chelsea rumored to be seriously interested, but it’s unlikely that he will be sold if he’s dealing with a major injury.
Of course, right now there is no word on the seriousness of the injury, just that he was obviously hurt and taken off in pain. Hopefully it will not be anything too serious, but it did not look good.
