More bad news for Manchester City's hopes of regaining the Premier League. Midfield colossus Yaya Touré, who limped off 19 minutes into his side's 3-2 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday, may miss the rest of the season. Speaking to television after the game, manager Manuel Pellegrini said:
Yaya Touré may miss the rest of the season
Manchester City’s key midfielder may miss the rest of the season after injuring his groin in his side’s defeat to Liverpool.

It’s difficult for Yaya to be in the next game. We will see tomorrow — I don’t know how serious he is injured. I think it will be difficult for him to finish playing this season.
Touré sustained the injury taking a hopeful long shot at goal and, though he attempted to run it off, was eventually substituted and appeared to be holding his groin. City have yet to provide a precise diagnosis.

With six games left in the season, City will need to find some way of replacing the irreplaceable. Most likely is that Javi Garcia — who came on for Toure at the weekend — will slot into midfield alongside Fernandinho, though Pellegrini's other options include moving Martin Demichelis out of defence, or turning to apparently out-of-favour midfielder Jack Rodwell. It is not clear at this stage whether this injury will affect Touré's participation in the World Cup with Ivory Coast.
