Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has ended speculation that Ivorian midfielder Yaya Touré's season was over after he picked up an injury in the Citizens' defeat to Liverpool on the weekend. Instead, Touré looks set to miss between 10 days and two weeks.
Quoted on City’s official website, the Chilean said:
“Yaya has a muscle injury - we’ll see with the doctor how many days. Maybe it’s not so bad as we thought at the beginning but he needs at least ten days or two weeks to recover.”
If he's ruled out for two weeks, Touré would miss City's league games against Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace, though would return for their tough match away at Everton. It's certainly not quite as bad as it could've been for the title challengers, and, ahead of this summer's World Cup, the Ivorian national team.
In even better news, Pellegrini confirmed that City's star striker Sergio Agüero and captain Vincent Kompany are both fit for their game at home to Sunderland on Wednesday.
