Umbro continue brand revival, announce Hull City kit deal

Famed football brand Umbro have doubled down on the Premier League, adding the Tigers to their roster for next season.

For a little while there, following Nike’s decision to divest of football brand Umbro, it was looking a little bleak for the Manchester-based sportswear manufacturer. There were many questions about the double diamond’s future with some predicting that they would fade into relative obscurity like FILA, Pony, Admiral, and many others before them. Thankfully, that hasn’t been the case and Umbro looks very strong heading into 2014/15.

Back in February, Umbro and Everton announced a five year kit deal between the two clubs. The Toffees had worn the diamonds on their chest before but after the deal ran out following the 2008/09 season, the Blues went to Coq Sportif and Nike, leaving a number of fans unhappy. Umbro supplied Everton's kits from the mid-1970s to 1997 (with a short Coq Sportif break from 83-86) and then again from 2004 to 2009.

Umbro have now added a second Premier League club to their stable, making an announcement in the first half of the Hull City v. Arsenal match. The Tigers have worn Umbro before, most famously in their last Premier League stint, donning the double diamonds from 2007 to 2010 before moving to Umbro. The Tigers will get new kits from next season.
