Nike hang new Tiempo & Hypervenom colorways from chandelier, show off innovations

If you somehow hadn’t guessed by now, it is in fact a very big summer for football both on and off the pitch. All of the manufacturers are releasing different kits, boots, lifestyle pieces, and other tech steadily but Nike are the first to bring everything to one event. Taking up some space in Madrid following the Champions League clash between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Nike are showing off everything that will be on the pitch this summer.

The sportswear giant will have ten teams wearing Nike kit in this summer's tournament and this was the perfect opportunity for Nike to bring it all to one location. Those teams are England, France, the Netherlands, the United States, Portugal, Greece, Croatia, Brazil, Australia, and South Korea. On top of that, Nike has individual player sponsorships in just about all of the other camps, if not all of them.

The new kits feature Nike's renowned recycling technology with each kit having been made using recycled plastic bottles, a technique that Nike introduced ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. This time around, Nike's big push was in cooling technology due to the hot, humid temperatures that all of the teams will experience in Brazil. All of the shirts feature laser-cut ventilation holes on the sides, Dri-FIT fabric throughout, and an engineered mesh on the back for durable breathability.

Speaking about the design process behind the kits, Nike’s Creative Director for Football, Martin Lotti, said:

”The overall goal was to create iconic and memorable pieces for the players to wear throughout their time in Brasil. This is the biggest moment in their football careers; we wanted to deliver players our very best product to help them perform their best on-pitch and inspire them off-pitch.

“We first sat down to work out which moments during the tournament were most in need of a specific outfit, then met with the players and federations to develop the products and styles. We want to elevate each moment through premium products and styling.”

It wasn’t just about the kits in Madrid though as Nike had some new boots to show off as well. Heading back to the country in which they first announced the Magista boot, Nike are now prepping for its official launch, happening in the next week.

While the Magista has had plenty of coverage in the last couple months, Nike has made sure not to leave its other boots out in the cold. The lauded Tiempo V and HyperVenom boots have received a cosmetic refresh for the coming months with each getting a flashy new colorway.

The Tiempo receiving an all-over Volt paint job which takes a step away from the previous two-tone colorways. The undeniably bright Volt look has become a staple in the Tiempo lineup over the years and this one is no different for the player looking for a comfortable leather boot and flashy colorway. The swoosh is Hyper Punch on the instep of both feet and a combination of gold & black on the outside of the foot.

The HyperVenom, a boot that has been very in-your-face since its launch, is about to take it to another level. It’s almost the reverse of its Magista cousin, allowing fans to purchase the power boot in an all over Hyper Punch colorway with Volt swoosh and black accents.

While everything that Nike has on show isn’t exactly new barring relatively small changes, we’re sure that this isn’t all that the powerhouse has to offer. Stay tuned.
