There are fears over an injury sustained by Gonzalo Higuaín in Napoli's goalless draw with Inter Milan on Saturday. The Argentine forward was involved in a tangle with the nerazzurri defender Marco Andreolli deep in the second half, resulting in his being stretchered off with what looked like an ankle problem.
Fortunately, initial reports seem to suggest the injury isn't quite as bad as first feared. However, there are obviously further medical checks to be done before we have official confirmation of the extent of the injury. With the Coppa Italia final and then the World Cup on the horizon, both Higuaín's club and country will be desperately hoping he hasn't suffered ligament damage or worse, which could see him sidelined for a while.
Higuaín has netted 17 times in Serie A so far this season, making him the league’s fourth-top goalscorer.
