Sunderland vs. Cardiff City: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

There’s a relegation six-pointer at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, as Sunderland host fellow strugglers Cardiff.

Stu Forster

Sunday's early kickoff could go some way to determining which teams are eventually relegated from the Premier League, with two of the division's current relegation strugglers, Sunderland and Cardiff City, meeting at the Stadium of Light.

Cardiff are currently 18th in the table, two points adrift of safety, while Sunderland are rock bottom, but only a point worse off -- and still with a game in hand. Both of these sides head into the game in buoyant spirits, having picked up four points from a possible six in their last couple of games. It really is too tight to call.

Sunderland will be without Keiren Westwood, Ki Seung-Yueng and Steven Fletcher through injury, though Carlos Cuéllar and on-form striker Connor Wickham could recover from their injuries in time to play. Cardiff captain Mark Hudson is out injured alongside his teammate Craig Noone, with Andrew Taylor and Craig Bellamy facing late fitness tests.

Sunderland injuries and suspensions

Out: Keiren Westwood (shoulder), Ki Seung-Yueng (knee), Steven Fletcher (ankle). In doubt: Carlos Cuéllar (hamstring), Connor Wickham (knock).

Cardiff City injuries and suspensions

Out: Mark Hudson (hamstring), Craig Noone (abdominal strain). In doubt: Andrew Taylor (knock), Craig Bellamy (illness).

Projected lineups
