Leicester City have ended a 10-year absence from the Premier League by achieving promotion with plenty of games to spare after a dominant season in the Championship.

Pearson had enjoyed reasonable success at the club before, but could not quite get them into promotion. However, after a season where the East Midlands club surprisingly dominated The Championship, they will return after a decade in the wilderness.
History-wise, Leicester are a club that previously brought England Gary Lineker, Emile Heskey, Martin O’Neill and legendary psychopath Jock Wallace. This time, their squad is a bit of a tricky one to gauge. In a way, they resemble Cardiff upon their promotion - a very, very solid Championship side but one with few players that are guaranteed to be able to make the step up.
Among the players that should be the most interesting in the Premier League are French playmaker Anthony Knockaert, former Manchester United midfielder Danny Drinkwater, and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. Yet with David Nugent the primary goalscorer in the squad, a striker will probably be the club's first port of call in the transfer market.
Leicester were bought out in 2010 by a Thai-led consortium who had looked to invest large sums of money in the club, notably bringing in Sven Goran-Eriksson as manager. The Swede failed to mount a promotion challenge, however, and was replaced by old manager Pearson, who has now guided them into the top flight.. They could also soon be joined by one of their rivals in Derby County or Nottingham Forest, with both possibly featuring in the playoffs.
So, welcome back, Leicester. Let’s hope you can be more entertaining than Cardiff were, and let’s also hope Knockaert can do some more of this.
