Catania have fired Rolando Maran for the second time in one season as they desperately grasp at straws, trying to avoid their nearly certain relegation. They currently sit bottom of Serie A, seven points clear of safety, following their home loss to Torino over the weekend. The defeat was their fifth straight in the league.
Catania sacks Rolando Maran for the second time this season
Serie A’s coach rules are great.

If you’re wondering how Maran has been sacked twice, it’s because managers can only work for one team in a season in Serie A. Maran was caned in October, then brought back after they realized he wasn’t quite as bad as his replacement, Luigi De Canio. Except he might be as bad, since he’s only won one point in his last eight games.
“We wish to announce we have ended our collaboration with Rolando Maran, who we would like to thank for the work he has done over the season.”
That’s not much of a statement. I wish they would have addressed whether or not he was fired for wearing a baseball hat with a suit.
Youth coach Maurizio Pellegrino, who was the club's manager when they were in the third division over a decade ago, has been appointed as Catania's new manager.
