Atlético Madrid vs. Barcelona: Lineups

Diego Costa is out for Atléti.

Denis Doyle

Atlético Madrid's star striker Diego Costa isn't fit to play in his side's Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Barcelona today. The game is currently tied 1-1 on aggregate, though the away-goal advantage is with the hosts, who are forced into pairing Adrián López with ex-Barcelona forward David Villa in attack.

Elsewhere there aren't really any selection surprises for either side, with Barcelona starting both Lionel Messi and Neymar in their attacking trident, ahead of their usual midfield trio and back four in the absence of center-back Gerard Pique. José Pinto starts in goal with Victor Valdés having picked up a serious injury.

Barça know that to progress they need to score at the Calderón. Hopefully that means we’ll see some fireworks.

Atlético Madrid starting lineup (4-4-2): Thibaut Courtois; Filipe Luis, Diego Godín, Miranda, Juanfran; Koke, Tiago, Gabi, Raúl García; Adrián López, David Villa.

Barcelona starting lineup (4-3-3): José Pinto; Jordi Alba, Javier Mascherano, Marc Bartra, Dani Alves; Cesc Fàbregas, Sergio Busquets, Xavi; Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Neymar.
