Nurnberg and TSV Eintracht Brainschweig's stay in the Bundesliga is over. Both teams could have at least managed their way to the relegation playoffs with wins on the final day, but Nurnberg lost 4-1 to Schalke and BTSV were beaten 3-1 by Hoffenheim.
Bundesliga relegation: Nurnberg and BTSV suffer the drop, Hamburg into playoff
Nurnberg and BTSV are going down, possibly with Hamburg.

Hamburg SV may also be subjected to relegation after finishing in 16th place, which has them in the relegation playoff., likely against SpVgg Greuther Furth. Die Rothesen are lucky to even be in that position after winning just seven matches all season and losing again on the final day. Had either Nurnberg or BTSV won, Hamburg would have been automatically relegated.
If Hamburg do not win their playoff and are relegated, it would end a remarkable run in the top division. They have played in the top tier every year since the end of World War I and are the only team to have played in every season of the Bundesliga since it was founded in 1963.
FC Koln clinched promotion to the Bundesliga by running away with the 2. Bundesliga title and if results hold, they will be joined by SC Paderborn, who were in the 2. Liga just five years ago. Paderborn could still drop if they do not win on the final day, putting them in the playoff. Furth need to win their final match and Paderborn to lose or draw if they want to move into an automatic promotion place, but barring a massive change in goal difference on the final day, they will at least finish third.
