In under three hours, either Atlético Madrid or Barcelona will be crowned the champions of La Liga for 2014. There will be joy and celebrations for one side and disappointment and sadness for the other. No matter who wins though, there's one thing they won't be getting ... the real La Liga trophy.
La Liga winners will get a fake trophy
Whoever wins today at the Camp Nou won’t get to lift the real league trophy ... because Spain. This can’t be true, can it?

La Liga
According to Antena 3TV and MARCA, Spanish Football Federation President Ángel María Villar is traveling on Saturday and will not be able to attend the match at the Camp Nou. Apparently, if the president can’t come, neither can the actual trophy. So in its place, the winner of La Liga will lift a replica trophy on Saturday.
Seriously? Surely this can’t be true.
The president of the Spanish federation couldn’t adjust his travel plans to make an appearance at the Camp Nou for this massive match? They couldn’t just send the trophy anyway? Does Villar have the damn thing stuffed in his luggage, refusing to let anyone else touch it or carry it?
This can’t be real.
Granted, the importance of this final day match wasn't established until last weekend, but come on! Imagine Roger Goddell not being at the Super Bowl, and the winner getting a fake Lombardi Trophy.
That’s so Spain ... if this report is true, of course.
