Diego Godin goal has Atletico Madrid on verge of La Liga title

Atletico Madrid are 41 minutes away from winning the league.

Atletico Madrid went into the final day of the season needing just a win or draw to capture the La Liga title. The problem? They were at Barcelona, who would win the league if they beat Atleti.

Oh, and Diego Costa and Arda Turan were injured early on in the match. Also, Alexis Sanchez gave Barcelona a 1-0 lead.

So Atletico’s dream was done, right? Of course.

Except not. That’s because Diego Godin, oh mighty king of flying in and throwing his body recklessly at the ball to win headers, did just that to bring Atletico level.

Now, all that stands between Atletico Madrid and the La Liga title is 41 minutes. Can they do it?
