Bayern Munich's exit from Champions League was extremely disappointing for the club, but they've rescued their season by completing a domestic double at the expense of their now-bitter rivals, Borussia Dortmund. There wasn't much to separate the teams through 90 minutes in the DFB-Pokal Final, leading to extra time, but Arjen Robben came up huge late to help his team to victory. Thomas Müller added a late exclamation point, as Bayern won 2-0.

Roman Weidenfeller had to make a couple of key saves early in the match just to keep his team alive. He inadvertently stopped a Müller shot with his face in the fourth minute, then made another stop on Robben just two minutes after that.
The biggest story of the first half was an injury to Philipp Lahm that looks like it might threaten his World Cup run. He attempted to continue after suffering a foot injury early in the half, but was forced to exit in the 31st minute, with Franck Ribery replacing him.
Dortmund thought they'd taken the lead in the 64th minute, but they were denied by the officials. Mats Hummels headed the ball towards the goal off a deflection from Robert Lewandowski, but Dante was in the perfect position to clear the ball off the line. Replays were inconclusive, but it appeared that the ball had crossed the line before Dante could kick it away. However, it also appeared that Hummels might have been a step offside, which was also missed by officials.
As the second half wore on, both sides appeared to tire and looked more concerned about conceding than they did with scoring. The game was more physical than open, and the two sides headed to extra time knotted up at 0-0.
Just 40 seconds into extra time, substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a golden opportunity from 12 yards, but pulled his shot just wide. That was Dortmund's best chance of extra time, and they came to regret not taking it in the second extra time period.
Robben was the man who came up big for Bayern, getting on the end of a cross by Ribery in the 109th minute. Weidenfeller got across his goal to get in front of the ball, but couldn’t keep it from crossing the line despite getting plenty on it. Ribery had looked extremely tired before that run and cross, and was rewarded for his efforts with a substitution.
Marco Reus thought he'd fired Dortmund level and into a penalty shootout in the last minute of the match, but was denied by Jerome Boateng, who stuck his foot out to get a slight deflection on his shot, directing it just wide of Neuer's far post, denying der BVB in heartbreaking fashion.
With Dortmund bombing forward in desperation, Müller caught them out and beat Weidenfeller one-on-one before passing into an empty net, sealing victory for Bayern.
