Osasuna fans injured after a barrier collapsed

Several fans were injured after a section of railing collapsed, causing people spill onto the field of play.

Saturday's La Liga match between Osaunsa and Real Betis at the Sadar Stadium was halted for nearly 35 minutes when a section of railing behind one of the goals collapsed, causing fans to spill onto the pitch.

The incident occurred in the 12th minute when a section of railing between the stands and the field on the south side of the stadium broke, causing fans to fall and spill down on the grass. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported, though several fans received treatment from medical staff on the pitch, and at least two were stretched off the field.

The delay caused the first half to take over an hour to complete, forcing the other three matches involving teams in the relegation battle to have extended halftime. The delays allowed the matches to re-sync their starts for the second half, to avoid any potential match fixing or tampering.

Osasuna ended up winning the match 2-1, but it wasn’t enough for Los Rojillos to avoid relegation.
