Eighteen years after their last La Liga triumph, Atlético Madrid were once again League winners on the last day of the 2013/14 season. Atleti took Real Madrid to the wire a week later in the Champions League Final, ultimately losing in extra time to end one of the club's most memorable seasons ever. They did it all in a beautiful home kit from Nike and for next season, that look is getting a relatively subtle upgrade.

At first look, it may be difficult to discern the differences between the 2014/15 home kit and last year’s. Once you get eyes on it though, the differences are fairly obvious.
For starters, the polo collar on the shirt goes from red with a blue insert to blue with a v-neck. Instead of red sleeves on the shirt, Atleti’s traditional red-and-white vertical stripes continue onto the sleeves where they are terminated by a thick blue stripe at the cuff. The shirt also features a tonal chevron design that runs underneath the sponsor badge and down the stripes.
The shorts are also blue, this time with a thick white vertical stripe running down the legs. The socks are red with a thick white band at the top to complete the red, white, and blue theme.
The new home kit is inspired by the strip worn by the 1974/75 Intercontinental Cup-winning Atletico Madrid side. The updated look will be worn in part as a celebration of the 40th anniversary of that triumph over Argentina’s Independiente. That sentiment is echoed on the pennant tab inside the collar which features a Spanish flag and the words Campeón del Mundo 1975.
