Supporters injured ahead of Coppa Italia final between Napoli and Fiorentina

At least one supporter has been injured ahead of today’s Coppa Italia final, but the exact nature of the situation is unclear due to conflicting reports.

As Napoli and Fiorentina prepare to play in the Coppa Italia final, events outside the stadium are taking over the headlines. According to reports, at least two people -- suspected to be a fan and a police officer -- have been shot during build-up to today's match at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. The only thing we know for sure is that something has happened, and at least one person is injured.

According to the Associated Press, there are two victims, but the reports are not clear as to whether or not it was the result of gunfire or some kind of explosive device. There have been unconfirmed reports that an IED-like device filled with nails is potentially responsible.

Il Mattino reported that a gun is believed responsible for the injury, but also says that an explosive device could be involved. It also reported that people have been seen throwing objects, and that a police officer was not among those injured.

Update: Rome police say shooting unrelated to fan violence
