In detail: adidas micoach Smart Ball & companion app

Mark Yesilevskiy

Just a couple of days after adidas unveiled the company’s new micoach Smart Ball, a box showed up in the mail. Inside the packaging was the new piece of hardware from the brand with the three stripes. The new ball comes with a hefty price tag but the technology is something that we have not yet seen on the market. When paired with an iOS device and the Smart Ball app, the result is something truly special.

The ball looks and feels like any other top-of-the-line football and that’s what is most important but inside, it is packed with sensors that will tell the player where they made contact with the ball, its peak speed, rotation speed, trajectory, and much more. We’ll have a full review of the ball and its complimentary app in the coming days but for now, we have some photos of adidas’ new release as well as some screenshots of the app in action.
