Olympique Lyonnais unveil 2014/15 change and third kits

Olympique Lyonnais have been without a Ligue 1 title for the last five years after winning it an astonishing seven times on the bounce. Finishing in third place last season, they will be hoping for a better season while competing with financial powerhouses Paris St Germain and AS Monaco. While it will definitely be a challenge for them, they will certainly be competing in style thanks to a pair of new releases from adidas.

Lyon are no strangers to experimentation with their kits, having worn some very, ahem, different numbers of the last few seasons. Fans will remember 2012/13’s “3D” away kit and the 2010/11 away and third kits inspired by a rug and the 80s, respectively. This time around however, Lyon’s kits are pure class.

The away kit features three shades of blue, dark on the top and light on the bottom, separated by a middle-toned slash that cuts across the shirt at an acute angle underneath the sponsor logo. The crew neck collar and adidas stripes are in brilliant white while the lighter blue color runs down the side of the shirt. The monochrome crest matches the darker blue shade while the shorts continue the lighter blue to the socks.

Les Gones will wear a gorgeous black kit for those times when the home and away kits simply won’t do. It’s a shame that its appearances will be so relatively few and far between. This shirt borrows the template that AC Milan’s home kit uses but in a much cleaner package. The shirt gets a ribbed effect with thin vertical stripes running from the rugby-style collar to the bottom hem. The collar and stripes are bright white once more with Lyon’s red and blue running down the sides of the shirt. The top is accented by a black-and-white crest and the theme continues to the kit’s shorts and socks.

The kits are available immediately from OL.
