Napoli vs. Cagliari, final score 3-0: Napoli clinch Champions League qualifying, but not with this result

Did you watch this match? If so, why? Eurovision is on! There was a man in a giant hamster wheel and twins with their braids tied together! A woman ice-skated without ice!

The point is, this game was rather...pointless. When Sassuolo beat Fiorentina about fifteen minutes before kickoff, Napoli realized they didn't need to put any effort

In the 33rd minute, Goran Pandev did what he does best: the Macedonian drew a penalty. That's the third or fourth time the forward has done so this season, proving that he does, indeed, have some purpose. Dries Mertens stepped to the spot, possibly because Marek Hamšík was in too much pain to kick the ball, and duly converted the spot-kick.

Ten minutes later, Pandev himself scored. The visitors tried to clear the ball, but instead it fell to José Callejón. The Spaniard seemed surprised, but managed to knock the ball over to Pandev, who put it in the back of the net.

Then Pandev earned another penalty, which just proves that Cagliari were lucky to escape the drop this season. Alas, this time Hamšík did take it, and just to put a cherry on the horror of the season he’s been having, the captain’s penalty smashed into the crossbar.

It didn't take long, though, for Napoli to get the third goal. Pandev tried his luck again, but Vlada Avramov, on for Marco Silvestri after the starting keeper got sent off with a straight red, managed to push away. He wasn't quick enough to stop Blerim Džemaili, however, who rushed in to fire the rebound into the back of the net.

Napoli: Reina (Colombo); Ghoulam, Britos, Fernandez, Mesto; Inler (Zapata 63), Dzemaili; Mertens, Hamsik, Callejon; Pandev (Radosevic 75)

Goals: Mertens 33’; Pandev 43’; Dzemaili 57’

Cagliari: Silvestri; Murru, Astori, Rossettini, Pisano; Eriksson, Conti, Dessena; Ibraimi (Avramov 55); Ibarbo, Sau (Avelar 63)
