The mess that is Sao Paulo has claimed its first World Cup victim -- a closed door scrimmage between the United States and Belgium.
USMNT scrimmage vs. Belgium canceled because of traffic
Sao Paulo’s traffic is worse than the traffic wherever you live.

The two teams were supposed to meet tomorrow at the Americans’ training base, but Belgium called it off because of traffic. Seriously.
Belgium are staying 40 miles away from the U.S. camp, but Wilmots has witnessed Sao Paulo traffic in the days since arriving in Brazil and knows that trying to get that far in Sao Paulo could take hours. Literally. According to the AP, Wilmots thought it could take five hours for Belgium to make it the 40 miles to scrimmage the U.S, and that's despite tomorrow being a holiday.
Is it really worth sitting in traffic for five hours just to play a scrimmage? The correct answer is “no” or “hell no.”
Good luck to the teams that have matches in Sao Paulo and have to drive 30-40 miles to get to the stadium in rush hour.
