Sunderland’s new away kit borrows World Cup style

After spending a year in an Ecuador-esque yellow, blue, and red away kit, Sunderland will switch to a classier number from adidas.

This new kit has a lot in common with the shirts that Colombia & Bosnia and Herzegovina will wear in the 2014 World Cup and for at least the next year.

The new kit is a light blue, called with dark grey pinstripes that run down the body on both the front and back of the shirt. The collar is a v-neck that features white and grey piping. That same piping is present in the see inserts that lie right below the shoulder as well as making up the shirt cuffs. The back of the shirt features a white accent strip that goes across the shoulders. The adidas stripes, logo, and sponsor logo are all white.

The shirt is matched by light blue shorts with white stripes and piping and light blue socks with white stripes.

Speaking about the new kit, Connor Wickham said:

“It’s a really striking kit. I love the bold, bright colour, the design is different to previous kits and I’m sure our fans will like it.”

The kit will be officially available at the end of the month.
