Australia vs. Chile, 2014 World Cup: Lineups

Arturo Vidal makes a surprise start as he returns from injury as Chile take on Australia in the second game in Group B.

Well, good luck following Spain-Netherlands, guys. On the plus side, Arturo Vidal is fit to start as Chile face Australia, but he does so in a very bizarre lineup for the South Americans.

Gary Medel and Gonzalo Jara comprise a highly unorthodox centre-back partnership, while the rest of the team is lined up in a diamond, with Jorge Valdivia behind Alexis Sanchez and Eduardo Vargas, with Vidal one of the central midfielders. Marcelo Diaz is at the base of midfield.

Australia, meanwhile, are lining up in a far more conventional formation, with Mathew Lackie, Mark Bresciano and Tommy Oar behind Tim Cahill up front in a 4-2-3-1.
