World Cup gear watch: Switzerland 2-1 Ecuador, France 3-0 Honduras, Argentina 2-1 Bosnia and Herzegovina

Day four of the World Cup brought us goals, kits, and an interesting boot spot, or three (including one that you likely have never seen before).

The Kits

Switzerland enjoyed a last gasp come-from-behind winner in some relatively anonymous red Puma kits against an Ecuador side wearing perhaps the worst set of uniforms in this entire tournament.

Like Switzerland, the kits that Honduras wore for their opening match are really nothing to write home about. France's, on the other hand, are pure, unadulterated filth. There is a reason that I chose them as this summer's best kit and it showed on the field.

The day's final match saw Argentina show off their lovely Albiceleste kit with the country's traditional white and sky blue stripes. The details are the real star of this one from the subtle fade of the blue to the gold piping and accent stripe on the back. Bosnia and Herzegovina's home kits weren't anything special (just a template, really) but that doesn't mean that it wasn't great to see them at the Maracana nonetheless.

The Boots

Ecuadorian defender Jorge Guagua (wearing number two and falling down in the photo) is one of the few men at the World Cup wearing the adidas 11Pro. He can be seen above in the Battle Pack colorway, which is perhaps the most subtle of the five boots in adidas' new collection.

France’s match against Honduras provided what is sure to be one of the most interesting boot spots of the entire tournament. Third-choice France goalkeeper Mickaël Landreau (formerly of Nantes, Paris St Germain, Lille, and Bastia) was wearing something very different from the sea of adidas, Puma, and Nike boots. Landreau, in yellow on the right side of the photo, was wearing a pair of white Kipsta Agility 700 Pro boots, one that we will definitely not see anywhere else in the tournament.

Lionel Messi got to show off his special white, blue, and black Battle Pack F50 boots by scoring what was the ultimate match winner against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Messi and his boots beat a number of defenders (and caused a pair to crash into each other) on the way to scoring off of the post and sealing three points for his country.
