Costa Rica take a surprising lead over Italy

Just before the break, Bryan Ruiz put Costa Rica up 1-0 over Italy with a terrific header.

Costa Rica have taken a surprise lead against Italy, thanks to a terrific header from Bryan Ruiz. Just moments after losing out on what certainly looked to be a penalty, with Giorgio Chiellini panicking and taking out Joel Campbell, the ticos carved apart the Italy defense once more. Júnior Díaz put in a fantastic cross from the right, Bryan Ruiz slipped past Chiellini, and Gianluigi Buffon was left scrambling.

Should the score stay the same, Costa Rica will remain top of Group D, while England will be eliminated. Italy and Uruguay will go into the final game fighting to stay alive.
