World Cup gear watch: Belgium 1-0 Russia, Korea 2-4 Algeria, United States 2-2 Portugal

With 11 match days gone and 32 games having been played, the 2014 World Cup is still throwing up surprises.

Belgium once again turned out in their red home kits (which, in this writer's opinion, still look very outdated) while Russia's Sputnik-inspired white-and-blue away kits made their tournament debut.

Despite the 2-4 scoreline in favor to Algeria in this one, the match was not a firecracker much like the kits on display. Algeria dominated play in their Old Navy ringer tees while Korea played (and were outplayed) in their nice home kits.

It went from heartbreak to hope to pure ecstasy to heartbreak in the span of 90 minutes as the Americans in their white, subtly hooped home kits went behind, equalized, took the lead, and gave up the goal against Portugal. Cristiano Ronaldo's side wore their wonderful red fade home kits as they battled to remain in the competition.,

The Boots

A pair of spots in this one as Russia's Dmitriy Kombarov switched out of the adidas Battle Pack F50 boots that he wore against Korea and into the Solar Zest Samba F50s that launched last year. Marouane Fellaini in the other hand wore the Warrior Gambler 2 in a colorway that matched Bergium's red home kit from afro to toe.

Another match day for Algeria and another pair of whiteout boots. This time, it was Djamel Mesbah who came out in a pair of the very recently released current generation whiteout F50 adizero boots in leather.

Finally, there was Cristiano Ronaldo who played in those custom Nike Mercurial Superfly boots that we told you about last week. The winger had a mostly frustrating day against the United States but it was his perfect ball at the death that got in behind the Americans and found the head of Varela to save Portugal's blushes.
