Netherlands re-up with Nike until 2026

David Ramos

It’s official. Nike will be producing (hopefully) beautiful Oranje kits, like the pair that the nation are wearing in the 2014 tournament, for at least the next three World Cups after the Royal Netherlands Football Federation (KNVP) and the Swoosh extended their partnership until 2026. The two groups originally joined forces in 1996 after the Netherlands left Lotto which means that the 12 year extension will form a three-decade-old collaboration by the time all is said and done.

Speaking about the new deal, Dermott Cleary, Nike’s Football Vice President and GM, said:

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with the KNVB and the Netherlands national team, particularly as the KNVB celebrates its 125th year. The KNVB was one of Nike’s first major football sponsorships and has been instrumental in helping us on our journey to become the world’s most innovative and leading football brand. We look forward to building on our success in the future.”

Nike also sponsors the country’s women’s and youth sides and this deal will see the other KNVB representatives continue to carry the swoosh in their gear. Additionally, Nike will produce training gear and off-pitch apparel and gear for players and fans.

Bert van Oostveen, Director of the KNVB, added:

“Our partnership with Nike is the longest running sponsorship deal in the history of the KNVB. That is significant. Nike is the world’s leading football brand and they’re not only committed to the Dutch National Team, but to fans of the game across the Netherlands - and we are very proud to renew our partnership.”
