Italy head coach Cesare Prandelli resigns
In the wake of Italy’s loss to Uruguay, which knocked them out of the World Cup, Prandelli has announced his resignation, effective immediately.

Cesare Prandelli announced he has resigned from his position as head coach of the Italian national team, effective immediately. The decision came less than an hour after Italy was eliminated from the 2014 World Cup at the hands of Uruguay:

Things didn't go much better in 2014 as Italy won their opener, but then struggled in two straight losses to Costa Rica and Uruguay.
The head of the Italian Football Federataion, Giancarlo Abete, has reportedly resigned as well, but not before asking Prandelli to reconsider his decision:
The head of the Italian Football Federation has also just resigned. He has, however, asked Prandelli to reconsider
