Switzerland needed to bounce back from getting whalloped 5-2 against France in round two, and Xhedran Shaqiri needed to bounce back from two straight poor performances. Naturally, both happened at once:

This will be one of the goals of the tournament: the placement is little short of masterful. And it was quickly followed up by a second, again from Shaqiri.
The two goals mean that Switzerland have one foot in the knockout round, but they’ll be relying on France holding Ecuador to at least a draw in Group E’s other match.
