Umbro unveil stunning Everton 2014/15 home kit

Umbro’s rebirth continues following the brand’s sale by Nike. Gone is the Swoosh that adorned Everton’s kits for just two seasons and in its place on the front of the Merseyside club’s home kit is the Double Diamond.

The brand has picked up a trio of English properties for next season including Hull City and Championship side Derby County, but it was Everton who were the first to re-sign earlier this year (on a five-year deal) and their kits are the first to be unveiled by Umbro.

The new home kit is Everton's traditional royal blue color with very subtle dark blue striping running horizontally across it and is inspired by the kits that the club wore in 1924. That year, Umbro was founded in Wilmslow, Greater Manchester and Everton won the Barcelona Cup in Spain. The shirt features a rugby-style collar that is accented by navy blue around the neck and down the button line. The shirt features navy blue piping up the side and in the shoulder stitching.

Everton get a new badge that was voted on by the fans following a controversial switch that saw the club’s “Nil satis nisi optimum” motto removed from it last season. The crest is single color, appearing in white on the home shirt and it matches the sponsor and Umbro logos on the chest as well as the Umbro wordmark that appears on each sleeve.

The home shirt is paired with solid white shorts and navy blue socks, again inspired by the 1924 kit. Tim Howard and the other Everton goalkeepers will wear an all-yellow number for their home kits that looks as classy as it does classic.

The kit also comes in youth, infant, baby, and women’s cuts, which was a concern that the fans had with Nike that Umbro and Everton addressed.

Manager Roberto Martinez spoke about the new home kit:

”The fans, players and staff make up the fabric of this football club and I am proud to be considered a part of that.

“Umbro has created a unique technical kit which I’m sure both players and fans will be proud to wear. It has been inspired by our Club’s glorious past, however its quality and design are very much for the modern-day era and I remain confident it will help us to perform to our full potential on the pitch in the Premier League and in Europe.”

The shirt is available for pre-order now and will go on sale in mid-July.
