Russia vs. Algeria, 2014 World Cup: Kickoff and TV schedule
A draw would put Algeria through, but only if South Korea don’t win, so it’s best if the Fennec Foxes press for a victory over Russia (whose own win would put them into the next round).
Algeria may have taken a surprise lead against Belgium in their first group game, but considering they eventually lost 2-1, no one expected all that much from their second game against South Korea. That may have been why it was such a thrill: Algeria up 3-0 at the break, a comeback goal from South Korea, and an eventual 4-2 finish in favor of the Fennec Foxes. After such a display, Algeria gained many fans, all eager to see them progress to the next round.
Especially at the expense of Russia. Fabio Capello's conservatism has got the best of him yet again, and after two games, the Russia side has barely looked a threat. They've scored just one goal and have but a point, yet advancement is still possible. A win over Algeria - provided South Korea don't crush Belgium, of course - puts Capello's men into the next round.
