One of the day's opening matches saw the United States take on Germany in a rainy and flooded (outside the stadium, anyway) Recife. The Americans lost the match but still advanced in their white Nike home kits while the Germans did the business on a superb Thomas Müller goal in their sublime adidas away kits.

The "G" in Group G probably stood for "great kits" or something because all four of the shirts on display in the day's opening set of matches. Portugal's fading Nike home kits clashed with the best kits of any African side in the tournament in Ghana's Puma home kits.

The day's last match featured Belgium, who changed into their somehow more outdated looking away kits (that feature an awful shade of yellow for the numbers and sash), matched up against a South Korea side who once again wore their excellent Nike away kits.
The Boots

Jermaine Jones of the United States Men's National Team has played the entire tournament thus far in a pair of Bright Crimson & Chrome Nike CTR 360 boots. Philipp Lahm, on the other hand, is one of the relatively few wearers of the adidas 11Pro Battle Pack at this summer's World Cup, going for comfort above all else.

A clash between Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Ghana’s Harrison Afful showed off the difference in Ronaldo’s custom Mercurial Superfly boots and the ones that are available to the public.

Algeria goalkeeper Cedric Si Mohammed celebrated his side’s qualification for the knockout rounds in a pair of white and blue Nike Tiempo Legend V boots, a colorway that didn’t make it onto the field much in the boot’s early days.

As South Korea crashed out of the World Cup with a grand total of one point from three matches, Hwang Seok-Ho looked dejected as he and Kim Young-Gwon (on the ground) reacted to the news that they were out of the competition. Seok-Ho didn't make it into the match but he wore a pair of white Mizuno Morelia Neo boots as it all played out in front of him.
