Colombia vs. Uruguay, World Cup 2014: Time, TV schedule
Here’s how to catch Uruguay and Colombia in the World Cup Round of 16.
In the build-up to this game, Luis Suarez's biting incident and suspension has overshadowed everything. He's been suspended for nine competitive Uruguay matches for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini, meaning he's out of the rest of this tournament and will almost certainly not be called up to the 2015 Copa America. If Uruguay make early enough exits in this tournament and that one, he'll miss some 2018 World Cup qualifiers, and maybe even the start of the 2016 Copa America.
They have to face Colombia without him, and that's looking like a tall task. Los Cafeteros were brilliant in qualifying, though they ran through it with Radamel Falcao, who's missed out on this tournament. The good news for them is that James Rodriguez and Juan Cuadrado have been good enough that his absence hasn't hurt them, and they won Group C very comfortably.
Match Preview
Even though Teofilo Gutierrez hasn't been at his best, the Colombia attack has been fine without their star, but the same can't be said for Uruguay and Suarez. In the one game they played without him, against Costa Rica, their attack was poor. Diego Forlan may be a World Cup Golden Ball winner, but he's 35 and a shell of the player who dominated the 2010 tournament. It's going to take some serious magic from Edinson Cavani or a collapse by Colombia to re-ignite Uruguay, who were so upset by Suarez's ban that they've made threats to boycott this match.
