Italy's friendly against the Republic of Ireland last Wednesday could hardly have gone much worse. Sure, the Azzurri weren't humiliated, only drawing 0-0, but they turned out a highly unimpressive performance and managed to lose important first-teamer Riccardo Montolivo to a broken leg. They're now winless in six matches, and coach Cesare Prandelli will no doubt be looking for a big improvement against Luxembourg on Wednesday.
Italy vs. Luxembourg, 2014 World Cup friendly: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online
Italy will hope their friendly against Luxembourg on Wednesday goes better than their friendly last week against Ireland.

Certainly, Italy should have no problems picking up a handy win against a team who haven't won a game since last September. But the manner of the performance is what Prandelli will no doubt be assessing. Still seemingly yet to decide on whether he's going to shape up with a 4-3-3, a 4-3-1-2 or even a back three in Brazil, it's the performance -- rather than the final score -- that is key.
