Argentina vs. Slovenia, 2014 World Cup friendlies: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online
La Albiceleste take a bit of a step-up in competition.
Following their straightforward thrashing of Trinidad and Tobago earlier in the week, Argentina are playing a slightly higher class of opponent over the weekend. Slovenia should provide a bit more of a test for Alejandro Sabella's men, with players like Samir Handanovic, Josip Ilicic and Milivoje Novakovic in the Slovenian squad.
Argentina were able to field a mostly first-choice team against T&T, though they had to rest a couple of Manchester City stars. Pablo Zabaleta and Sergio Aguero sat out, and they're expected to do so again on Saturday. Gonzalo Higuain is also likely to be rested, leaving Rodrigo Palacio up top. Palacio and Ezequiel Lavezzi have been just as good of compliments to Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria as Aguero and Higuain were throughout qualifying, so don't expect one injury to derail Argentina's World Cup campaign.
However, this is Argentina’s last friendly before the World Cup, so Sabella won’t get a chance to play his best forward line together -- or his best right back with the rest of the starting defense -- before they begin the tournament.
