LA Galaxy fans’ tifo bids Chivas USA a ‘final goodbye’

Chivas USA’s days are numbers, as Galaxy fans made sure to remind everyone.

There’s a rather heated debate in soccer supporter circles as to the “best” types of tifo. Some believe celebrating your own team is all that should matter. Others believe that tearing down your opponent is fair game.

While negativity may not be quite as sporting, it's hard to deny that it can prove plenty effective as the LA Galaxy's Angel City Brigade showed with their tifo aimed directly at Chivas USA supporters.

The irony here is that while Chivas USA's numbers are, indeed, numbered, that might not be such a good thing for Galaxy fans. Aside from a relatively short run as a competent team, Chivas USA's history has mostly been marked by mismanagement. There's at least a decent chance of that changing along with Chivas USA's name when a new owner is announced.

If this presumably deep-pocketed owner actually bothers to invest in infrastructure, gets a new stadium in the downtown area and captures the sizable untapped market, the days of the Galaxy’s Southern California dominance could be in trouble. Wonder what the tifo would look like then.
