The United States and Belgium meet on Tuesday for the right to claim the final spot in the 2014 World Cup quarterfinals. Despite a generally subpar performance, Belgium are the favorites going into the match, but this remains a very winnable game for the USA (4 p.m. ET, ESPN).

Belgium advanced out of Group H, going undefeated against Algeria, Russia and South Korea. While the offensive explosiveness that many expected from Les Diables Rouges never materialized, they were extremely good on defense, allowing just a single goal in the group stage. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, one of the best in the world, was a big part of that.

The USA survived the "Group of Death," shocking many and finishing second behind Germany. The Americans defeated Ghana in their opening match, came within 30 seconds of a win over Portugal, and then played the Germans extremely tough in a 1-0 loss.

Belgium are dealing with some injury issues ahead of the match with Anthony Vanden Borre and Thomas Vermaelen out of the match, and Vincent Kompany facing a late fitness test to determine his availability. Midfielder Steven Defour is out as well after picking up a red card against South Korea.

Jozy Altidore is the USA’s only injury, and he’s been cleared to be on the bench as a possible sub.
