Neymar’s agent brands Brazil’s coach ‘repulsive, conceited and ridiculous’

In a quite remarkable tirade, Neymar Jr’s agent has laid into Brazil’s coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, attacking both his professional record and his personality.

SB Nation's 2014 World Cup Final Preview

It's post-World Cup humiliation fallout time in Brazil, and shots have been fired from Camp Neymar. While the wounded wunderkind is keeping his own counsel for the moment, his agent and close friend Wagner Ribeiro has shown no such circumspection, laying into Brazil's coach Luiz Felipe Scolari with a sarcastic six-point list of the requirement to become Brazil coach:

One - being Portugal coach and winning nothing.

Two - going to Chelsea and being sacked the following day.

Three - going to coach in Uzbekistan.

Four - returning to Brazil, taking over a big team [Palmeiras] and getting them relegated to the second division.

Five - leaving the club 56 days before the end of the Brasileirao to 'escape' relegation.

Six - being an old jerk, arrogant, repulsive, conceited and ridiculous.

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. And ouch. Scolari has so far insisted that he will not resign, though once the 3/4-place playoff is out of the way he may suddenly change his mind. But even if he wanted to stay on, and even if the Brazilian football federation were minded to keep him, there is surely no way he could survive a rift with Neymar.

So if there’s anything more to this than simply an agent venting — and it’s rare that they do without at least the tacit approval of their clients — then Scolari suddenly looks even more doomed than he already did. And who thought that was possible?
