Arsenal’s 2014/15 away kit recalls Invincibles, cup kit channels cult classic

Yellow has long been a part of Arsenal's kit history. From the 1950s on, it has been the first choice color for the club's away kit, occasionally making way for white, blue, and the odd green. The yellow kit has seen the Gunners hit some of the highest heights that the club have seen to date including the famed 2003-04 season that saw the Arsenal win the league without losing a single match.
For 2014-15, the yellow away kit, dubbed the “Victorious” kit, is back and represents Puma’s first entry into the change market for the Gunners. The new shirt features a yellow body with dark blue sleeves that extend all the way onto the shoulders, creating a boxed-off look for the torso and forming the surround of the relatively deep v-neck collar. The collar itself is yellow and matches the body, providing a nice little bit of extra color. The sleeves feature yellow and red inserts at the cuff to carry the theme through.
On the shirt, fans will find that the sponsor logos are both in red while the club’s shield maintains all of its traditional colors. Flanking the Fly Emirates sponsor logo is a pair of red inserts on either side that run up shirt. On the inside back of the shirt are the words “Future Forever Victorious.”
The players will wear navy blue shorts with yellow trim that match the shoulders and collar of the shirt. Like the new home kit, the away comes with a pair of hooped socks that start with a yellow band before finishing in navy blue.
Arsenal will wear the away kit during their summer preseason matches before debuting the home shirt at the Emirates Cup in early August.
As for the third kit, it brings back memories of an Arsenal team that began pushing the boundaries to reach the levels of performance that they consistently hit now. Three years after winning the league, the Gunners were mediocre, having finished in 12th place during the 1994/95 season. The following year, they hit 3rd and the year after that, 5th. Finally, in 1996/97, they won the league again.
It was the 1995/96 kit, one that Dennis Bergkamp wore in his first season at Highbury, that would serve as the Inspiration for the 2014/15 third kit. Featuring a diagonal set of of alternating light and navy blue stripes with lime green breaks in between, the shirt bears the polo collar that Italy wore in this summer’s World Cup. The shirt features the same cut as the away with a boxy torso shape and sleeves that are solid colors. At the cuff is a lime green and blue insert.
Like the away kit, the cup kit comes with blue shorts. These match the darker blue stripe and sleeves of the shirt but feature a lime green stripe running up both legs. The socks match the shirt’s look with a diagonal candy-stripe look to them.
The third kit, called “Future,” will make its debut for arsenal in the Capital One Cup before being used in Champions League and FA Cup play.
