Manchester City swap white for navy blue on 2014/15 Nike home kit

SB Nation's 2014 World Cup Final Preview

After the 2014/15 Premier League season concludes, there is a very real chance that Manchester City will be Nike's only property in the league. With Manchester United leaving the Swoosh at the end of the campaign, Everton having already switched to Umbro, and the possibility that newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers will go back from whence they came, as teams in their position often tend to do, Nike may only have one representative in the world's most popular league. It's a good thing that said representative is, at least for this season, defending the Premier League trophy.

Manchester City will begin that defense on the 10nth of August at Wembley Stadium against FA Cup winners, Arsenal. Both teams will wear their respective new home kits. While Arsenal released all three of their 2014/15 kits (Forever, Future, and Victorious), Nike and Manchester City have decided to unveil the Citizens' brand new home kit.

As a departure from last season’s home kit, the first that Nike had designed for the club (not counting the period of time in which Nike owned Umbro), the collar and cuffs on the shirt have gone from white to navy blue. The new collar is a constructed, standing v-neck with thick navy blue trim that ends in a sky blue triangle. The cuffs are also much thicker than last year’s, creating a very nice contrast between the two colors. Both sponsor logos are also navy blue while the club’s crest retains its traditional colors.

The pennant tab on the inside back reads “We are City.”

The shorts that pair the home shirt are also sky blue and have a navy blue strip that runs the length of each leg on the sides. The socks are mostly sky blue, save for a wide navy blue band at the top, navy blue “City” lettering & Nike logo, and a tonal chevron band running up the back.
