FIFA prevent Barcelona from unveiling Luis Suárez
The newest member of the Blaugrana will not be unveiled at the Camp Nou, or anywhere, due to his four-month ban from all football related activities.

Luis Suárez may be Barcelona's newest player, but he will not be getting the standard welcoming ceremony at the Camp Nou like most of the club's big signings. Thanks to his on-going ban from all football related activities by FIFA in the wake of his bite on Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup, Suárez cannot be formally introduced by the club at the stadium, or anywhere.
Delia Fischer, FIFA’s head of media, confirmed to the Press Association Sport that there will be no public ceremony of any kind for the striker.
”The ban relates to all football-related activity. He cannot be in a football-related public event irrespective of the venue.
“He cannot even be involved in a football-related charity event.”
A reported 90,000 fans came to the Camp Nou last summer when the club introduced Neymar following his signing from Brazilian side Santos.
Suárez’s appeal against his lengthy ban and fine was rejected outright by the FIFA appeals committee, but he’s still expected to take his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
As it stands, the Uruguayan striker will be unable to take the field for the Blaugrana, or even train with the team, until the end of October. His new contract with the club reportedly has a “bite clause” which lays out punishments for Suaárez should he again bite an opponent on the pitch.
