Puma announce evoSPEED 1.3 boot, new evoPOWER colorway

After what was a very visible World Cup for Puma with a number of high-profile players wearing the unmistakable Tricks colorway on their boots, the sportswear giant is back with a pair of new introductions ahead of the upcoming club season. Puma have officially unveiled the brand new evoSPEED 1.3 boot and a brand new colorway for the evoPOWER boot.

The evoSPEED is Puma's F50 adizero and Mercurial Vapor competitor and, as its name implies, is the brand's speed silo. The boot is worn by some of world football's biggest names which include the likes of Marco Reus, Sergio Agüero, Radamel Falcao, Antoine Griezmann, and many more. The first name in that list is perhaps the most interesting one, switching from the evoPOWER to the evoSPEED this summer.

The boot features a new upper with what Puma are calling a “super thin” microfiber that they say performs even better with additional grip and control on the ball as well enhanced touch. The evoSPEED 1.3 features a redesigned support system that uses a cage around the midfoot on the outside of the boot that, according to Puma, “enables stability for quick turns and kicks. This visibly new system alongside a new optimised footbed offer a snug fit for the player, so the boot strikes a perfect balance between speed and comfort.”

The boot comes in a mostly purple colorway with a yellow Puma formstrip on the outside of the foot and the brand’s name on the instep in huge type, fading from yellow to blue.

Puma's stars had a lot to say about the new boot with Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero being the first to pipe up, saying:

“Agility is very important to me, getting to a ball quicker and being able to beat a defender puts me in positions on the pitch where I can score more goals. And I love scoring goals. The new evoSPEED 1.3 feels like a good improvement, the new upper is great. I like that it gives a little more grip on the ball, and it definitely helps me when I am heading towards the goal trying to leave the opponents behind.”

evoSPEED new boy, Marco Reus, added:

“I have been wearing PUMA boots for many years now, but the evoSPEED is still very new to me. It really is a cool boot with great product features in it that will hopefully be helping me now, as I am training hard every day to become fit again.”

In addition to the evoSPEED, Puma also announced a brand new colorway for their evoPOWER for a new look that will surely be impossible to miss on the field. The new colorway features a very vibrant yellow body with purple and accents. New look aside, the evoPOWER features all of the same technology that has made it a relative hit over the last few months, including the Adap-Lite upper, Gradual Stability Frame, and AccuFoam inserts.
