A few months ago, ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, adidas launched the Predator Instinct boot alongside the rest of the Battle Pack. The boot marked the 20th anniversary of the Predator silo, which has been a favorite among fans and footballers since the launch of the original in 1994.
adidas continue Predator 20th anniversary celebrations with pair of limited edition Instinct-based boots

Continuing their celebration of the boot, adidas have announced a pair of extremely limited Predator boots that are inspired by some of the silo’s first pairs but built using the Instinct as a base. When a new version of the Predator is launched, we are usually treated to a classic black, white, and red colorway but this year, we did not get that until now with both pairs recognizing the famous scheme.
The first boot, dubbed the Predator Eyes, features a dark grey, black, white, and red colorway with a large eye featured on the outside of each boot. Covering the boot is a textured print that is reminiscent of the Predator elements on the 1994 original, the 1995 Rapier, and the 2012 (original) LZ. While the adidas stripes are present on the back half of the boot, their color matches the rest of the boot, camouflaging them.
The second boot, known as the Predator Tongue, brings back a feature that fans have been clamoring for since 2009. The boot’s famous foldover tongue, which held its place on the Predator from 1995 (with the introduction of the Rapier) to 2009 (the end of the PowerSwerve’s life cycle), is back.
Featuring prominently on the mostly black boot, the Predator Tongue’s er... tongue is all-red and bears the logo, complete with eyes (the inspiration behind the previously mentioned boot) that sat on the 1994 Predator’s tongue. The boot features a similar texture to that of the Predator Eyes but makes no effort at hiding the adidas stripes, instead showing them off in stark white. The stripes themselves look to have been inspired by the ones that appeared on the Predator Touch (1996) and Predator Accelerator (1998).
Fans and collectors should expect both pairs to be extremely difficult to obtain with adidas publicly stating that, at least for the Predator Eyes, the boot will not be for sale and is limited to contests on the @adidasfootball Twitter account.
